Office 365

Microsoft Office 365 provides email and/or hosting for your website. Connect Office 365 to your domain by following the steps below.

Step 1: Add and Verify your Domain
Visit the Office 365 Verify Domain Guide and follow the steps to add and verify your domain. We recommend verifying your domain by setting up a TXT record.

  1. Login to your Control Panel at https://www.misk.com/cp/
  2. Click on your Domain Name
  3. Under Essentials in the top area, click DNS
  4. Click Add Record and select TXT
  5. Enter the subdomain and TXT value specified in Office 365
  6. Click Add
  7. Return to Office 365 to verify the domain (last step in that section)

Step 2: Create DNS Records
MX record and TXT records then need to be setup to connect the domain to Office 365.

  • MX Record
    1. In your control panel, click on your Domain Name
    2. Under Essentials in the top area, click DNS
    3. Under Incoming Mail Servers (MX), click Edit
    4. Server Name: Find in your Office 365 Control panel
    5. Priority: 0
    6. Click Save
  • TXT Record
    1. In your control panel, click on your Domain Name
    2. Under Essentials in the top area, click DNS
    3. Click Add Record and select TXT
    4. Subdomain: Leave blank
    5. Text: v=spf1 include:spf.protection.outlook.com -all
    6. Click Add

Setup Additional Optional Records
Certain Office 365 services ask for additional records.

  • CNAME Record
    1. In your control panel, click on your Domain Name
    2. Under Essentials in the top area, click DNS
      • For Email (Exchange) Autodiscover
        1. Click Add Record and select CNAME
        2. Subdomain: autodiscover
        3. Hostname: autodiscover.outlook.com
        4. Click Save
      • For Lync SIP
        1. Click Add Record and select CNAME
        2. Subdomain: sip
        3. Hostname: sipdir.online.lync.com
        4. Click Save
      • For Lync Autodiscover 
        1. Click Add Record and select CNAME
        2. Subdomain: lyncdiscover
        3. Hostname: webdir.online.lync.com
        4. Click Save
      • For Additional CNAME
        1. Click Add Record and select CNAME
        2. Subdomain: msoid
        3. Hostname: clientconfig.microsoftonline-p.net
        4. Click Save
  • SRV Record 
    1. In your control panel, click on your Domain Name
    2. Under Essentials in the top area, click DNS
      • For Lync web conferencing
        1. Click Add Record and select SRV
        2. Subdomain: _sip._tls
        3. Priority: 100
        4. Weight: 1
        5. Port: 443
        6. Target: sipdir.online.lync.com
        7. Click Add
      • For Lync federation, enter the following values
        1. Click Add Record and select SRV
        2. Subdomain: _sipfederationtls._tcp
        3. Priority: 100
        4. Weight: 1
        5. Port: 5061
        6. Target: sipfed.online.lync.com
        7. Click Add

How Long will the Change Take?
DNS changes are made immediately and in realtime across our nameservers. However, due to dns record caching by internet service providers, it may take a few hours for everyone to see the changes.
