You're moving a .com, .co, .net, .org, .info, .biz, .me, .ca, .us domain name from another registrar to Misk.com.
Step 1 - Contact Your Current Registrar
Perform the following steps at your current registrar:
- Unlock the domain name
- Obtain the transfer authorization code (also called epp code or auth code)
- Ensure your whois contact information is up to date
Step 2 - Start the transfer
Start the transfer at https://www.misk.com/#transfer. You will pay for a one year renewal of the domain as part of the transfer, which will extend the registration of your domain from its current expiration date. You can renew the domain for additional years after the domain transfer has completed.
When should I start my transfer?
Domain transfers can take several days to complete. The speed of the transfer depends on the extension and how quickly you confirm the transfer over to us. You should begin your domain transfer over to us several weeks or months before expiration. You don't lose any time on the registration by transferring early, so there is no reason to wait. Time is added to the current expiration date of your domain name.
Can I include Domain Essentials?
The Essentials package cannot be purchased as part of the transfer. You can add our Essentials package after the transfer has completed OR you can purchase and setup your domain with the Essentials package prior to the transfer by having your current registrar point your nameservers to us.
Step 3 - Confirm the Transfer
We will send a confirmation email to either the registrant email address listed in your current registrar's whois record OR the registrant email address listed on your transfer order. Generally, you should receive the email within a few hours.
Resend Transfer Confirmation Email
If you haven't received the transfer confirmation email, you can have it resent by following the instructions at: Resend Transfer Confirmation Email.
Confirmation Email Address Incorrect
If the transfer confirmation email address is incorrect, you may need to update your domain's whois record with your current registrar. You will then need to cancel and restart the transfer to use the new email address.
After clicking on a unique confirmation link in your confirmation email, you will be required to:
- Enter the Auth Code from your current registrar
- Accept our legal agreements
- Confirm Acceptance of the transfer
If you do not confirm the transfer, the order will timeout and cancel itself within 5 days. You can also cancel or restart the transfer via your control panel.
Step 4 - Wait for Completion
After you have successfully confirmed the transfer, you will have to wait 5 days for the registry to auto-approve it. Your current registrar may (not all registrars do) send you a second confirmation email, which allows you to approve the transfer sooner so you don't have to wait the full 5 days. There is no way to avoid the 5 day wait if the current registrar does not offer a way to approve it sooner.
The transfer goes into a pendingTransfer status at the registry in this step and you will not be able to make any changes at the current registrar or with us until the transfer is complete.
Rarely, a registrar may deny a transfer in this state. You will need to check with the current registrar on why since they are not allowed to do this unless the owner requested it or if the domain was transferred within the last 60 days.
You will receive an email from us once the transfer is complete and when you can manage the domain name via your control panel.
