Google Sites is an online web builder. Connect your domain to Google Sites by following the steps below.
Step 1: Verify Domain
Google requires you to verify domain ownership using Google Search Console before using it with Google Sites. We recommend verifying the domain by creating a TXT record.
Step 1: Obtain TXT Record Value
- Login to Google Search Console
- In the left navigation, click in the top space (under Google Search Console) to manage your domain/URL properties
- If your domain was not yet added
- Click + Add property at the bottom of the search property drop down
- On the Select property type window, select Domain and enter your domain name in the text field
- Copy the TXT record value (i.e., long string that starts with google-site-verification=...)
- If your domain was added, but not verified
- Click your domain name in the search property drop down
- Copy the TXT record value (i.e., long string that starts with google-site-verification=...)
- If your domain was not yet added
- Leave this page open, open a new window, and continue to the following step
Step 2: Create TXT Record
- Login to your Control Panel at https://www.misk.com/cp/
- Click on your Domain Name
- Under Essentials in the top area, Click DNS
- Click Add Record and select TXT
- Leave the Subdomain field blank
- Enter the TXT record value you copied from Google under Text
- Click Add
Step 3: Complete Verification with Google
Go back to your Google Search Console and click on the Verify button. If it doesn't verify right away (because of dns record caching by Google's servers), give it a few minutes and try again.
Step 2: Point Domain to Google
After verifying the domain, you'll need to point the domain to Google Sites by creating a CNAME record. Follow the steps below:
- Login to your Control Panel at https://www.misk.com/cp/
- Click on your Domain Name
- Under Essentials in the top area, click Website
- On the left, select CNAME / Hostname
- Enter ghs.googlehosted.com as the Hostname
- Click Save
Step 3 - Connect Google Site with Domain
Now all you have to do is connect Google Sites with your domain.
- Go to https://sites.google.com/
- Click on your site to manage it
- On your site's management page, click on the gear icon
in the upper right corner and select Custom URLs
- On the right, enter your domain name (include the www, i.e., www.example.com) and click Assign
- Once assigned, the domain name will be connected and you can close the window
