Domain names are like this too. You can register a new domain name, or you can purchase one from someone else.

The Steps for Purchasing a Domain Name from a Third-Party
Step 1. Contacting the Current Owner
The first thing you will need to do is contact the owner of the domain name to see if they are willing to sell the domain.

If you are able to work out an agreement to purchase the domain name, you may continue to the next step of the process.
Step 2. Create a Misk.com Username
If you have not already, create an account with Misk.com by visiting the Misk.com New User page.
Step 3. Gaining Ownership of the Domain
Domain registered through Misk.com
If the Domain is currently registered by a Misk.com user, the current owner may Internally Transfer the domain name into your Misk.com account. Just have the owner of the domain send an email from their administrative email address to support@misk.com requesting the Internal Transfer.
The following must be included in the request:
- The Domain(s) to be Internally Transferred
- The New Misk Username
We will then be able to move the domain name into your Misk.com Username.
Domain registered through another registrar
If the domain name is not registered through Misk.com you may initiate a transfer of the domain name into our services through our Automated Transfers Page.
The transfer into your Misk.com account will need to be confirmed by the administrator of the domain name. You may either instruct the current owner to approve the transfer or you may request that they update the administrative contact details, so that you will be able to confirm the transfer yourself.
Step 4. Update the Domain Information
We will notify you by email once the domain name has been transferred into your Misk.com account. You will be able to login to your Misk.com Control Panel and make any necessary changes to the domain including Updating Your Contact Information
