Follow the steps below to point your domain name to your own Mail Server.
Create the Mail A Record
If you plan on running your own Mail Server to handle all email for your domain name, you will first need to create an A Record which assigns an IP Address to your "Mail Server Hostname". Please follow the instructions below to do so.
- Please visit http://www.misk.com and login to your "Control Panel" using your username and password.
- Click on your domain name under "All Domains".
- Click on Advanced Settings in the "Domain Actions" panel.
- Click on Add A/CNAME Record.
- Enter the Hostname of your Mail Server in the "Hostname" field (i.e.: "mail") and the IP Address in the "IP Address / Destination Hostname" field.
- Click Save Settings to save the changes.
Updating the MX Record
You will then need to edit the Root ('@') MX Record in your Misk control panel. You may manually change the "Mail Server Hostname" that your domain points to by following the instructions below.
- Please visit http://www.misk.com and login to your "Control Panel" using your username and password.
- Click on your domain name under "All Domains".
- Click on Advanced Settings in the "Domain Actions" panel.
- Click on Edit next to the Root ('@') MX Record.
- Enter your "Mail Server Hostname" in the corresponding field (i.e.: "mail.yourdomain.com").
- Click Save Settings to save the changes.
Note: Make sure that you edit the Root ('@') MX Record. Do not create a new MX Record with the Hostname, "mail". If you have deleted your original Root ('@') MX Record, you will need to create a new one. When you create the new MX Record, make sure you enter '@' in the "Hostname" field, which specifies the "Root" of your domain name.
