Filtering Rules

Creating New Folders

To the left of the Webmail interface is a section containing all of your current folders (Inbox, Trash, etc...). Directly above those folders is a text box that will allow you to input the name of the new folder in the list. Simply create a folder name and click "Add" next to it.

Managing current folders

Below the option to add new folders is a button labeled Manage. This will allow you to modify or delete folders that you have created yourself. The existing folders that are set by default cannot be modified, as they are set by our mail server.

To update new folders, you can simply select the radio button next to it and either delete the messages within it, modify the name of the folder, or delete it completely. If you delete a folder from the list, you will lose any existing messages within it, so be sure to check for important messages before performing this procedure.

Setting Up Filtering Rules

Click on the Options icon located at the top of your Webmail Client, then select Filtering Rules(Updated) in the Options menu.

There are many options within this screen that will allow you to control your incoming mail more efficiently. The top line gives you the option to select which part of the email you would like to monitor. For example, you can choose to check the body of the email for the word "stock" to try and eliminate those annoying stock ticker emails.

Another great use for this filter is if you receive repeat emails such as newsletters or online catalog's from a company that you know. You could setup a new folder with the name "Newsletter" and set the rules to move all messages with the subject line, "Your weekly newsletter" to the specified folder. This not only keeps your inbox from getting cluttered, but also organizes your email for ease of reading.

Below that are some options for how you would like the Webmail Client to handle emails that have been picked up by the customized filter. You can move them directly to the Trash folder (or any folder using the drop down menu), create a copy of the email message or just delete it completely.

Once you have selected all of the filtering options, simply click Add Filter and it will show up directly below the window. It's that easy!

The great thing about our filtering system is that you are able to setup multiple filters and control the order that they check your mail. Filtering doesn't have to stop at just the subject line. You can set one up to check the subject for a particular phrase and then the email body for another. This type of filtering will allow you to catch more Spam, therefore, keeping your inbox free of garbage.

Webmail Spam

Blacklisting is a quick way to eliminate an email address from ever entering your inbox. As an example, one of the easiest things to do is create a reject entry for "*@problemdomain.com". This will block all emails from that particular address, no matter who is listed as the name (i.e. spammer@problemdomain.com or junk@problemdomain.com.

There is also a section for "Accepting" certain email addresses to ensure that they are never moved to Spam by accident. This will force the mail server to deliver your mail from a listed address even if it has the normal indications of Spam. This feature is good to implement to ensure that you do not miss any mail from a particular source.
