Misleading Renewal Reminders
Misk.com has become aware of various companies trying to trick our customers (and customers of others) into transferring their domain names and or services with the use of misleading and confusing phone calls, faxes, and postal mail.
Lock your Domain
A great way to protect yourself from these scams and ensuring your renewal only goes through Misk.com is to Lock your Domain Name in your control panel.
Watch out for unsolicited phone calls asking for a renewal of payment by phone and or asking you to sign documents for your domain renewal. Signs to look for are companies saying they're calling from "the domain registry" or that they "work with Misk.com".
Misk.com employees will always instruct you to login to your control panel at Misk.com (and no where else) to renew your domain name. They can also process renewals by phone, but be sure you're speaking to Misk.com.
Misk.com sends all official renewal reminders by email from support@misk.com.
Watch out for misleading faxes that say that you will lose your domain name. These faxes emphasize "domain renewal" and "expiration notice". These faxes don't mention Misk.com and may ask for a signature as part of the renewal process.
Misk.com does not send out faxes for domain renewals. Therefore, any fax you receive regarding the renewal of your domain name is fraudulent.
Watch out for misleading renewal notices sent by postal mail. These notices emphasize "domain expiration" and may also ask for your signature as part of the renewal process.
A few company names to watch out for are:
- Domain Registry of America (DRoA)
- Domain Registry of Canada (DRoC)
- Domain Registry Support
- Liberty Names of America
Misk.com does not send out postal mail for domain renewals. Therefore, any postal mail you receive regarding the renewal of your domain name is fraudulent.
