What are the default file names for Misk.com's Web Hosting?
When someone visits a web site and they do not enter a specific file they are automatically directed to a default file.
You may use one of the following file names as your default file:
index.html
index.htm
default.html
default.htm
How do I create my web site?
You have three options for building your website.
- Build your website by hand using HTML.
We've created a quick guide to help you create your first web page.
There are also many resources on the internet that you may search for and use to help further your knowledge with building websites by hand.
- Use a web design program such as Macromedia Dreamweaver or Microsoft Frontpage.
- Hire a web designer.
There are usually many local free lancers that will walk through the whole process with you and build the site to your needs.
If you can not find a local web master you can search for a freelance online.
Guru.com and Elance.com are two sites you can use.
How long after I sign up will I be able to start uploading my website?
As soon as you enable web hosting in your control panel for your Domain Essentials package, you'll be able to login to your ftp account to upload your site. However, DNS changes will need to take effect when you first enable web hosting and therefore what you upload may not display for a few hours.
I tried to upload my web site through FTP but I couldn't connect. Why?
Most FTP Connection problems are caused by one of the following:
- Web Hosting has not been enabled on your domain

- The FTP Client is not correctly configured
You may review our Uploading your Web Site using FTP to check that your FTP settings are correct.
Note: the FTP password is different from your Misk.com account password.
You can update your FTP password in the Web Site Settings section of your control panel.
